Description

Adenylate kinases 1-5 (AK 1-5) are a set of enzymes that regulate intracellular adenine nucleotide levels. AK influences metabolic signals and promotes intracellular phosphoryl transfer by catalyzing phosphate group exchange between adenine nucleotides. Inherited mutations lead to AK deficiencies in erythrocytes are implicated in hemolytic anemia.
