DescriptionThe CD147 (HI197) antibody recognizes a 50-60 kDa type-I single chain transmembrane glycoprotein named basigin or neurothelin, which is a blood-brain barrier-specific molecule. CD147 antigen has a wide tissue distribution on hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells including leukocytes, red blood cells, platelets and endothelial cells. As a potential adhesion molecule, CD147 is involved in embryonic blood-brain barrier development and in integrin-mediated adhesion in brain endothelia.
