Ataxin-1 is a chromatin-binding factor that repress Notch signaling in the absence of Notch intracellular domain by acting as a CBF1 corepressor. Ataxin-1 is related to autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxias (ADCA). ADCA is a heterogeneous group of neurodegenerative disorders characterized by progressive degeneration of the cerebellum, brain stem and spinal cord. Clinically, ADCA has been divided into three groups: ADCA types I-III.

SUZ12 (Polycomb protein SUZ12) is a zinc finger protein, component of the PRC2/EED-EZH2 complex. SUZ12 methylates histone H3, leading to transcriptional repression of the affected target gene. SUZ12 is overexpressed in several human tumors, including tumors of the colon, breast and liver.

FoxD3 (Forkhead box protein D3) is a transcriptional regulator, a member of the Forkhead Box family. It is characterized by a winged-helix DNA-binding structure and the important role it plays in embryonic development. FoxD3 is required for the maintenance of pluripotency in the pre-implantation and peri-implantation stages of mouse embryonic development and is also required for trophoblast formation. FoxD3 is required for the maintenance of the mammalian neural crest; FoxD3(-/-) mouse embryos fail around the time of implantation with loss of neural crest-derived structures.

JMJD1A (Lysine-specific demethylase 3A) is a zinc finger protein that contains a jumonji domain and may play a role in hormone-dependent transcriptional activation. JMJD1A functions as a mono- and dimethylation-specific demethylase, binding iron and alpha-ketoglutarate as cofactors and demethylating Lysine 9 of Histone H3. This suggests that JMJD1A plays a central role in the histone code and participates in nuclear hormone receptor-based transcriptional regulation. In addition, JMJD1A plays an important role in the regulation of cell growth during development and in chromatin regulation.

SETDB1 (Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase) is a histone methyltransferase. This enzyme catalyzes the reaction of S-adenosyl-L-methionine and histone L-lysine to produce S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine and histone N(6)-methyl-L-lysine, likely functions in transcriptional repression. Widely expressed in different tissues, whith high expression in testis.
