[Arg3,14] CTX IV [3-14] Peptide sequence corresponds to aa3-14 of the Cytotoxin IV (CTX IV), a toxin expressed by the venom gland of the Egyptian cobra. CTX IV has cytolytic activity on many different cells by forming pore in lipid membrane. CTX IV is a monomer in solution and forms homodimer and oligomer in the presence of negatively charged lipids forming a pore with a size ranging between 20 and 30 A. The toxin increases heart rate and kills the animal by cardiac arrest. The LD50 is 4.0 mg/kg by intravenous injection. CTX IV also binds to heparin with high affinity, interacts with Kv channel-interacting protein 1 (KCNIP1) in a calcium-independant manner, and binds to integrin alpha-V/beta-3 with moderate affinity.
